Asbestos Super Six Roof Removal

Tasti Products Factory

Project Overview

Our client, the much loved NZ owned and operated Tasti Factory had a need to remove a total of approx 2100m2 of asbestos super six over 4 zones of their fully operating factory in Te Atatu.

ATL were engaged as the head contractor to project manage 4 key elements of work to bring a successful project together and safely deliver to the client. ATL began planning this work in November 2018 alongside Tower Scaffolding, Total Property Works and Precise Consulting.

Removal works were completed in 150m2 sections daily. Involved in the works as a variation was the cleaning of roof voids and the removal of 3 obsolete internal gutters.

Scope of Work

While the initial scope of super six removal is fairly common for ATL, we had the added requirement of keeping the factory 100% operational and dry, managing large subcontractors and their works and keeping to an agreed fairly tight programme so as not to impact on the productivity of the client's business and the output of their delicious products.

The scope of work was to erect a large internal scaffold in the production area and fully seal this with 200μ polythene and corflute, roof removal and roof replacement in sections to keep the factory watertight at all times, constant air monitoring and numerous visuals were successfully carried out.

Given the unpredictable Auckland weather, great forward planning was necessary to ensure the project was a sure success.
